World Mensural Hygiene Day; Personal Hygiene During Mensural Period Is Very Important

Ghanaian journalist Selorm Helen has led a team to commemorate World Hygiene Day with some schools in the Volta Region.
The program which was hosted by RC School in Agbozume situated in Ketu South Municipality of the Volta region was highly welcomed by the Staff, students body and parents as a whole.

Many people who came to witnessed the program were extremely happy because there are numerous problems with girls especially when they have their menstruation.

Speaking with some of the students who participated in the program details how they sometimes suffer to buy sanitary pads when they have their mensural periods which at push them not to come to school. And it affects their academic performances at times.

"I don't come to school sometimes because of my mensuration period especially when I don't get enough money to buy sanitary pads. I can't go to school without wearing sanitary pad because I have seen some of my colleagues who also experienced such hard times."

Menstrual Hygiene Day is an annual awareness day on May 28 to highlight the importance of good menstrual hygiene management at a global level. It was initiated by the German-based NGO WASH United in 2014.

Some dignitaries who graced the occasion are the MP for Ketu South Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Mr. Gregory Andrews, the Australian High Commissioner to Ghana and the wife Madam Rachel Andrews who is the secretary to Association of Spouses of Heads of Mission in Accra.
