Residents Angry Over Nakpayili Community Day SHS Building Built By The Previous Gov’t and Left To Rot.

The people of Nanumba South District in the Northern Region of Ghana are not happy about the state of the completed School blocks of the E-block Community Day Senior High School in Nakpayili that has been abandoned since 2016.

Nakpayili Community Day Senior High School was among the Community Day Senior High schools constructed by the ex-president,John Dramani Mahama!
The project is 98-99% complete but has since be left to deteriorate.

Most of the residents of the District interviewed attributed the delay to the political Leadership of the District, but upon interviewing the District Chief Executive of Nanumba South District Assembly :
Hon.Munkaila Ibrahim Natogmah,it was we revealed that ,the main reason keeping the school from opening are contractual issues!

According to the DCE,he has done all the necessary things he could to get the school openned. He said the setback was beyond regional!

He said he has written letters upon letters requesting for the school to be openned since last academic year but it could not materialize.
Asked the report he got from the Regional Director of GES,the Honourable man said,he met Northern regional Director of Ghana Education Service and other stakeholders of GES but the issues left to deal with was purely with the contracter who said,he has not been paid for the project!

The contractor who is based in Tamale said he wants the rulling government to pay him before he hands over the project!

A resident of Nakpayili spoken to, said they are ready for the school to kick start but unseen fingers are holding the project!

The resident allays fears of further deteriorating of the building as the mess used on the windows have started tearing and termites have also started destroying some doors and windows of the building!

They are therefore calling on the Director General of Ghana Education Service, the Minister of Education to help them open the school as they are ready to mantain and keep the school in good shape!

The Communities around the catchment area of the school are eager to see the school openned for 2021 SHS 1 intake for them to also have access to Senior High School Education in the comfort of their homes!

A visit to the school reveals that, classes can begin in the school as the only things left to be done on the block cannot have any negative impact on teaching and learning, as well as, adminstrative duties.

The interviewer wants to add that, the government should do well to open the school as it is the state resources that are used for the project and for that matter is of great importance to the nation.
