MP for Nadowli/Kaleo presents relief items to flood Victims.

The Member of Parliament for Nadowli/Kaleo Constituency, Hon. Anthony Mwinkaara Sumah has presented some relief items to affected communities in the recent devastating floods in his constituency. The items include 150 bags of rice (50 Kg), 22 cartons of oil, 50 baskets of dried fish (keta school boys), 44 cartons of tin tomato and 20 bags of salt. The relief package, valued at about forty thousand Ghana Cedis (40,000) were received on behalf of the assembly members by the presiding member of the Nadowli/Kaleo District Assembly, Hon. Osbert Dambia.
Honorable Anthony Sumah in an address to the media said the extent of damage means that that it will take some time for the affected areas and persons to fully recover. He stressed that the the havoc caused by the floodwaters implies that more immediate relief items would be needed in the short to medium term in order to cushion the affected farmers and their families.
To this end, He appealed to benevolent persons and organizations especially sons and daughters of the Nadowli/Kaleo constituency to come to the aid of the victims in any ways and means possible.

The Nadowli/Kaleo District is the worst hit in the recent floods that hit most parts of the Upper West Region. Major roads and feeder roads in the constituency were cut of rendering movement in, around and outside the district difficult. The waters also caused the collapsed of a number of buildings whilst others were submerged. Large acres of farmlands in the Nadowli/Kaleo enclave were also submerged.
The MP is hopeful that the items presented would go a long way to give the victims of the floods some temporary relief whilst long-term interventions are being explored.
