Update: Suspect in the Mentally Challenged rape case remanded

The Sogakope Circuit court presided over by His Lordship Isaac Addo, has today, Thursday November 4,2021, remanded Emmanuel Kusorgbor who was arrested for Raping a 40-years-old mentally challenged Woman at Akatsi in the Akatsi south Municipality of the Volta region.
Appearing in court today, the accused however pleaded not guilty to the charge.
He has therefore been remanded into Police custody to reappear in court on November 18, 2021.
BACKGROUND
On October 29, 2021, Police in the Akatsi South Municipal capital, Akatsi, in the Volta Region have arrested a 30-year-old man, Emmanuel Kusorgbor for raping a 40-year-old mentally challenged woman
This according to the police, follows a report filed with the Akatsi police command on Sunday, October 24, 2021 to the effect that on same day at about 1330 hours, suspect Emmanuel Kusorgbor popularly known as ‘SIR’ sneaked into the room of the woman and had sexual intercourse with her.
The suspect, afterwards scaled over the wall upon sensing danger from relatives of the victim, , Police source disclosed
According to the Public Affairs director at the Volta Regional command, DSP Effia Tenge, the Police issued a medical form for the Victim to be sent to Akatsi Municipal Hospital for examination and treatment.
“After a careful examination and endorsement by the Medical Officer of the said Hospital, Police swiftly arrested suspect Emmanuel Kusorgbor on October 29, 2021, for further investigations” She noted.
