Foundation Developers Academy in collaboration with GIZ to organize a stakeholders engagement come February 25, 2022 at the Keta Municipal Assembly Hall.

The stakeholder’s engagement is on the theme: Achieving an equal future in a Corvid-19 world through Digital Skills.

Considering the economic pressure on women in Volta region, coupled with the impact of the global pandemic (Covid 19) has tripled within the last two years.
The pressure has influenced their decisions with regards to spending and most women especially those in the informal sectors are struggling to sustain their business with their meagre capital.
Regardless of the numerous challenges, they have lifted their head above the water to provide for their family.
However, for them to have the financial backing to keep sustaining their businesses, Developers Academy is organizing a digital training for fish mongers and pretty traders in Kedzikope and Vodza; two rural communities located in the Keta Municipality in the Volta region predominantly marginalized women and girls whose source of livelihood is fishing (fish mongers) and trading with basic or no education. The 2010 national census (Ghana) established that only 51% of the economically active population are in urban areas; thus, rural areas tend to play a critical role in the economy of Ghana.

Although Government and NGOs are making effort to close the gap, it is however vital to engage hubs in these deprived communities inclusively in the approach to improving the digital skills of these target groups in the rural areas.
Intervention
The intervention of the foundations are to train fifty (50) fish mongers and pretty traders on Digital Skills such as: Social Media for Business, Marketing,Digital Finance and E-Bookkeeping.
This education has become particularly important as Developers Academy wants to identify, nurture and develop women entrepreneurs in the informal sector in digitalizing their businesses or enterprises to enhance productivity which is one of the key priorities of eSkills4Girls.
