Taviefe SHS receives support from GNPC.

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has cut sod for the construction of a-160-bed capacity girls dormitory with 24 seater toilet facility for the Taviefe Senior High School (TASEC) in the Ho Municipality of the Volta region.

The sod cutting ceremony was held at the school’s campus on Friday January 21, 2022 for the commencement of the project.

Present at the ceremony were Togbe Tenku Kodzo Zigah lll, Her Excellency Mrs. Gina Ama Blay Ghana’s ambassador to Germany, Hon. Divine Bosson, the Municipal Chief Executive of Ho, Representatives from Ghana Educations service, Madam Rose Manu, the Head Mistress of the School and the school authorities together with the section of people from the Taviefe community

The two projects are initiative by the Chief of Taviefe, Togbe Tenku Kodzo Zigah lll, with funding from the GNPC

The project which is to harness dormitory challenges will also enhance comfortability and hygienic conditions of the students.

The project is expected to be completed within six (6) month.

The PTA chairman of the school, Nene Baah, appealed to the community members to embrace the project by way of supporting the workers and also motivates the contractor to be able to work effectively and deliver on time.

He also called on the Ghana Education Service to assist the school by equipping the schools computer laboratory and also fence the school.


“I will continue to lobby for the fencing because we need it. We have some of the classroom blocks available but the I.T center is not functioning making science related courses not effective. The two are very important for the students”

However, Her Excellency Mrs. Gina Ama Blay promised that, work will start soon to fence the school.

According to the headmistress of the school, Madam. Rose Manu, the school has a total of Four Hundred and Forty Seven (447) girls currently occupying a dormitory built for only 200.

She revealed that the school has to convert about three (3) classroom to accommodate the rest of the students.

She However applauded GNPC for their readiness to put up the facility to curb the dormitory challenge in the school.
