The Hohoe Divisional Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP/Mr. Jonathan Lamptey together with officials from the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) and the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) have organized a sensitization programme for bankers in the Hohoe Municipality on how to deal with the terrorism threat in the country. The programme was organized on Friday June 10, 2022.
Speaking to the bankers, ACP Lamptey encouraged them to take the terrorism threat seriously and enhance physical security at the various banks and report any suspicious characters to the security agencies.
The participants were taken through some survival skills which could be usefull when confronted with a terrorist attack. They were taken through scenarios such as active shooter situation, explosion and chemical attack. They were encouraged to apply the Run, Hide and Tell model whenever they encounter terrorists.
ACP Lamptey charged the bankers to put in place measures to identify workers who may be compromised by terrorist organizations. According to him, terrorist organizations sometimes use banks to launder money used to finance their activities. He encouraged the bankers not to shield workers who help to mask and transfer monies to criminal elements.
About 20 bankers took part in the programme. The team later moved to the Hohoe Central and Sabo Zongo mosques to interact with worshippers on terrorism and related matters.
