Volta: Hon. Woyome donates to Communinities in Agave Afedome Electoral Area.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the South Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region, Hon. Wisdom Kobena Mensah Woyome has presented seven (7) polytanks to seven (7) communities in the Agave Afedome Electoral Area of the district at a ceremony at Godzekpota.
The polytanks which would be used for storing pipe-borne water from the Agordome Water Treatment Plant, would inure to the benefit of one thousand, nine hundred (1900) residents in nineteen (19) communities.
The major communities that would play host to the polytanks are Akplale, Godzekpota, Avegagorme, Asidowui, Sondo, Dzebenu and Adigblikope.
The Agave Afedome Electoral Area is part of the larger Agave Traditional Area which has poor road infrastructural challenges as well as poor or lack of regular pipe-borne water supply from the Agordome Water Treatment plant.

The donation of the polytanks by the South Tongu lawmaker is to enable the residents collect and store water during its flow period at night for their domestic use instead of resorting to fetching water from the Volta Lake which has its own health issues on the people living along the river.
The MP who is also contesting the parliamentary seat for the fifth consecutive time, also presented ninety (90) bags of cement to two communities in the area, Godzekpota and Dzebetato towards their self-help initiated projects.

The Godzekpota community would use their allocation of forty (40) bags of cement to continue a kindergarten project to house their young school pupils who currently squeeze themselves in one classroom together with the Primary One (1) colleagues. In the case of Dzebetato, the community would use their fifty (50) bags of cement to support the construction of a CHPS compound facility and a kindergarten project, all initiated by the people themselves.
Presenting the items to the communities, Mr. Kobena Mensah Woyome noted that the gesture was in response to requests received from the chiefs and elders of the beneficiary communities through the Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Christian Voryexor.

According to him, he is fulfilled by the gesture, knowing the frustrations the residents have been going through over the years in respect of their water problems.

Hon. Woyome was optimistic that the flow of water to the Agave area would equally and considerably improve when the on-going Agordome Water Treatment Expansion project is completed by the end of the year, 2023. He gave the assurance that plans were underway to get similar supports to other communities in the area.

The Assembly Member for the Agave Afedome Electoral Area, Hon Christian Voryexor who received the items on behalf of the communities, was grateful to the MP for the gesture, adding that the support would go a long way to address the acute water problem the inhabitants had faced for several years.
Mr. Voryexor lauded Hon. Woyome for his contribution to the development of the Agave Electoral Area in particular and the Agave State in general. He mentioned the provision of a goal post for the Godzekpota Basic School and a canoe recently donated to the community as some of the support items received from the MP.
He was hopeful that the MP would be given another chance to serve the good people of the South Tongu constituency in parliament, adding that it is the expectation of the people that Hon. Woyome would become a Minister of State from the South Tongu district in the next NDC government.
On the completion of the kindergarten project at Godzekpota, Hon. Voryexor used the occasion to appeal to other stakeholders, Non-Governmental Organization (NGOs), public-spirited individuals and organizations including Ghacem Cement (GHACEM) to come to their aid in completing the project for use by the pupils.
