Ghana music has seen significant global growth in the few years; Charts, Playlists, Events cannot be reviewed without music from this part of the world been featured.
In recent times, technology has played a major role in the career of every musician, not excluding strategies and approach in selling craft and music.
Narrowing the conversation down to the Volta Region of Ghana, some significant figures who have contributed greatly to global music and economy certainly have routes from the region; globally recognized Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Edem, Sefa, Feli Nuna, Worlasi, Praye, Yaa Pono, Agbeshie, Keeny Ice, Jah Phinga(All Africa Music Awards(Afrimma,2015 norminee, Chief One,(Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2023,Best New Artiste nominee), Camidoh, Agbeko, just to mention few.
With the above mentioned icons and a host of others, one can boldly say Ghana’s musical ecosystem has about 60% of their contribution in diverse ways.
But majority of the populace including some media outlets tag new school artistes from the Volta Region as “Volta Artistes” rather than categorizing them as Ghanaian artistes, this emotionally puts a limitation on their brand and personality.
Statistically, these artistes qualify to represent Ghana in all instances.
•Keeny Ice has over 81,000 playlist reach, 13 global charts inclusive on Spotify and Apple Music, 1.8Million creator reach on Instagram, 5.3Million views and 7.8Million creator reach on Tiktok, over 835,000 channel views on YouTube.
•Chief One has over 86,000 playlist reach, 15 global charts inclusive on Spotify and Apple Music, 30.6Million views, 35.7Million creator reach on Tiktok, 5 Shazam charts, over 120,000 music shazams and over 3.2Million channel views on YouTube.
These two amongst other hardworking artistes from the region, are on the verge of rubbing shoulders with already existing arts from any part of the world.
