Sky FM’s Emmanuel Gyan wins 2024 GJA Best Radio Feature Reporter

Mr Emmanuel Gyan of Sky FM, Sunyani, has been adjudged the 2024 Best Radio Feature Reporter by the Bono and Ahafo Chapter of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).

He received the honour alongside seven other journalists at the third GJA Awards ceremony held in Sunyani over the weekend.

Mr Biiya Mukusah Ali of the Daily Graphic won three categories – Best Newspaper Reporter, Best Political Reporter and Best Agro-Ecology Reporter – and was declared the Overall Best Journalist. He received two laptops, plaques and citations as his prize.
Other awardees included Mr Lawrence Yeboah Gyan of Suncity Radio, who won Best Feature Reporter and Best English News Anchor; and Mr Michael Sarpong Mfum of Channel One TV, who received awards for Best Education Reporter and Best Telecommunication Reporter.

Mr Osei Laar of Suncity Radio was named Best Twi News Anchor, Mr Claud Abisa of Media General won the Best Health Reporter award, while Ms Jasmine Akwaboah of Moonlite FM, the only female awardee, was adjudged Best Female Journalist of the Year.

Mr Samuel Mensah of Peace FM won the Best Crime Reporter award.

All the awardees, except the Overall Best Journalist, received plaques, certificates and tablets.
Dr Roland Amengo, Chairman of the Awards Committee, called on media owners to employ more staff to address under-staffing and to improve the conditions of service of journalists, especially in the private media sector.

He said poor remuneration was undermining quality journalism and needed urgent attention.
