Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie elected AU Committee Chair

Ghana’s Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has been elected Chairperson of the African Union Specialized Technical Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture, securing a two-year mandate to help shape continental policy in these critical sectors.
Announcing the decision, Mr. Adongo revealed that the Minister was unanimously endorsed by delegates, even in her absence, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to culture, film, youth development and governance. Her track record earned widespread commendation and strong support from member states across Africa.
In her response, Hon. Gomashie expressed deep appreciation for the confidence reposed in her, reaffirming her commitment to championing policies that empower Africa’s youth, strengthen sports development, and promote culture as a tool for unity and sustainable growth across the continent.
Her election further reinforces Ghana’s growing leadership role within the African Union and highlights the country’s influence in advancing cultural diplomacy and youth-centered development across Africa.
