KETA: TWO TOGOLESE JAILED FOR ROBBERY.

Two Togolese nationals resident in Aflao have been jailed by Keta  Circuit Court on 21st December, 2020 for robbery.

The Presiding Judge,  His Honour Kwame Polley , convicted and sentenced Daforlenyame Bruno and Jean Atigah to 24 years and 15 years imprisonment respectively after full trial.

Presenting the facts to the court, the prosecutor, Chief Inspector Apau, narrated that, one Mabel Doamekpor, a trader at Aflao reported to the Aflao Police that, on 30th January, 2020 while she was returning from the Customs Barracks located at Aflao at about 12:00 am, the suspect, Bruno Daforlenyame suddenly rushed on her and attacked her with a machete ordering her to hand  over her Tecno Phatom 9 mobile phone valued at Ghc1,700 to him but she resisted.

According to the complainant, Bruno pushed her down and forcefully took her phone away from her. The prosecutor said upon reliable information, Bruno Daforlenyame was arrested on 3rd February, 2020 and he admitted to the offence.

Bruno also led the police to arrest his accomplice,  Jean Atigah, a handcart pusher whom he gave the said phone to,  who in-turn sold the phone in Lome-Togo for 60,000 CFA which is  equivalent to Ghc 576.

Upon interrogation,  Jean also led the police to Togo and with the assistance of Togo police, the buyer was arrested and the phone retrieved. The complainant, Mabel identified the phone as hers. The Togo police did not hand over the third accomplice to the Ghana Police since he was a Togolese arrested in Togo.
