TEMPTATION is the desire to do something, especially something wrong or unwise.

TEMPTATION is an invitation to sin.

TYPES OF TEMPTATION

1.NATURAL TEMPTATION.

Each of us have natural desires that God has given us, including the desire for acceptance,sex, food and more.

The Bible says "Now Joseph was well built and handsome" He was an attractive, strong, young man and would have faced temptation like anyone else,for scripture say No temptation has seized you except what is common to man ( 1 Corinthians 10:13 ).

2.INFLUENTIAL TEMPTATION.

This was sexual harassment in your work place or wherever you find yourself, your boss maybe a man/woman of great influence and would most probably have used his/her power often against you.

3.PROMOTION TEMPTATION.

This is when you have been given some position in your business or enterprise and you know and understood, that promotion comes from the Lord ( Psalm 75:6-7 ) but with that promotion,some challenges or that promotion may caught the attention of some people to react badly against you.

4.PERSISTENT TEMPTATION.

This is whenever the church is in a period of fasting and prayer,but you find that good food seems to be around where you go.

THE CAUSE OF TEMPTATION

1.Circumstances

2 Worry

3 Money

4 Pride.

THE CONSEQUENCES OF YIELDING TO TEMPTATION

1.Defeat

2.Disgrace ( Gen 3:7 )

3.Depression ( Gen 3:7-8 )

4.Deprivation ( Gen 3:16 )

5.Dishonor Christ

6.Death ( Jas 1:15 )

CAN SATAN MAKE US SIN?

No, he can not, Satan can tempt us to sin,but he can not make us sin.

IS TEMPTATION SIN?

No, it is not, The Lord Jesus was tempted, and we know that he did not sin. The Bible says that he was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

WHEN DOES SIN COME IN?

Sin comes in when we say " *YES* " to the temptation.

We sin when we give in to temptation.

METHOD TO OVERCOME TEMPTATION

1.Pray before you are tempted

2.Quote scriptures

3.Pray in the midst of temptation

4.Get a brother or sister to pray with you

5.Ask someone to hold you accountable

6.Remember God's faithfulness

7.Remind yourself that sin has consequences.

HOW WE CAN AVOID TEMPTATION*

1.Always have faith and be persistent in loving and forgiving people.

2. When you fail and give in to temptation,be sure to pray.

3. Pray before making your decision.

4.Say a prayer.

5. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

6.Let your thoughts be of God.

How do you strengthen yourself by temptation?

1.Choose to hang with people or in environments that will enhance your self- control.

2. Refocus your attention.

3.Change or redirect your thoughts.
