The Volta Regional Fire Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has extended its fire safety education campaign to members of the Volta Presbytery Brigade Association of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in Hohoe.
The interactive training session, held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, focused on practical fire prevention strategies, safe handling of electrical appliances, and the correct use of fire extinguishers.

According to officials of the GNFS, the exercise was part of the Command’s broader outreach programme aimed at building community resilience against fire outbreaks and reducing the incidence of domestic and institutional fires in the region.
During the engagement, members of the Brigade Association were taken through:

Causes of fire outbreaks and how to prevent them.

Electrical safety tips, including avoiding overloaded sockets and faulty wiring.

Demonstrations on the proper use of fire extinguishers in emergency situations.

The Regional Fire Command stressed the importance of fire safety education, particularly for groups and institutions with large memberships, as knowledge gained can be transferred to families, schools, churches, and workplaces.

Speaking at the event, the Public Relations Officer for GNFS in the Volta Region reiterated that fire safety is everyone’s responsibility. He urged the participants to become ambassadors of safety within their communities, ensuring that preventive measures are adhered to at all times.

Members of the Volta Presbytery Brigade Association expressed appreciation to the GNFS for the timely education and pledged to apply the knowledge acquired to enhance safety in their homes, churches, and wider communities.

The exercise forms part of ongoing efforts by the Ghana National Fire Service to strengthen community awareness and preparedness, with the ultimate goal of safeguarding lives and property across the Volta Region.
