
Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie Donates GH₵100,000 Worth of Production Equipment to Boost Creative Arts in Ketu South

In a bold step to promote the growth of the creative arts industry in the Volta Region, the Member of Parliament for Ketu South and Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has donated production equipment worth GH₵100,000 to film and comedy groups within her constituency.
The donation, presented during a brief ceremony in Ketu South, forms part of the MP’s continuous commitment to empowering young creatives and expanding opportunities for the local film and entertainment industry.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Gomashie emphasized the importance of nurturing the creative potential of her constituents and called on the beneficiaries to make responsible use of the equipment.
> “The Ewe language, spoken across Ghana, Togo, Benin, and parts of Nigeria, holds enormous potential for our film industry. Our stories can travel far if we invest in quality production and good storytelling,” she noted.
She encouraged the groups to establish a maintenance fund to ensure the longevity of the donated items, stressing that sustainability and accountability were key to the success of the initiative.
Renowned Ghanaian filmmaker and creative director, Mr. Ivan Quashigah, known for iconic productions such as Things We Do for Love, YOLO, Inspector Bediako, and Mataa – Our Missing Children, graced the event as a special guest. He commended Hon. Gomashie for her visionary support and pledged to provide training to the beneficiaries on the effective use of the equipment. Mr. Quashigah also hinted at future collaborations with the groups to enhance the quality and marketability of their productions.
Also present at the event was the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Nicolas Worklachie (Ezo), who urged the creative groups to produce compelling and educational storylines that reflect the culture, values, and aspirations of the people of Ketu South.
