Vice President to visit Oti Region to commiserate with Victims of boat disaster



The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Her Excellency Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, is scheduled to pay a working visit to the Oti Region, specifically to the Krachi East Municipality, on Tuesday, 14th October 2025.
This was announced in a statement issued by the Oti Regional Minister, Hon. John Kwadwo Gyapong, through the Regional Minister’s Communications Directorate. The visit aims to enable the Vice President to mourn with bereaved families who lost their loved ones in the recent tragic boat accident that occurred on the Oti Lake between Okumah and Debume in the Krachi West Municipality.

According to the statement, the Regional Minister will officially receive the Vice President on behalf of the Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC) and accompany her during the visit as she extends the government’s condolences to the affected families and communities.

Hon. Gyapong expressed the Region’s deep sympathy and solidarity with all who have been affected by the tragedy, assuring them of continued government support during this difficult time. He also commended stakeholders, security agencies, and NADMO officials for their swift response and tireless efforts in the aftermath of the incident.

The Vice President’s visit is expected to bring comfort to grieving families while reinforcing the government’s commitment to the welfare and safety of citizens across the region.
