Oti: Right to Play boosts fight against Child Labour in Krachi East with Laptop donation to Social Welfare Office

Right to Play, a non-governmental organization dedicated to the protection and promotion of children’s rights, has donated a laptop to the Office of Social Welfare and Community Development in the Krachi East Municipality to strengthen efforts in addressing child labour.

The donation forms part of Right to Play’s ongoing commitment to identifying and responding to child labour cases in six selected communities within the municipality. The laptop will support the Social Welfare Office in the efficient entry, management, and retrieval of child labour and related cases on the Social Welfare Information Management System (SWIMS), thereby improving data accuracy and response time.

Presenting the laptop, representatives of Right to Play emphasized the importance of reliable data management in the fight against child labour. They noted that timely and accurate documentation of cases is critical for effective intervention, monitoring, and policy decision-making, adding that the organization remains committed to collaborating with key stakeholders to protect vulnerable children.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the department, officials from the Office of Social Welfare and Community Development expressed their appreciation to Right to Play for the timely support. They indicated that the laptop would significantly enhance their operational capacity, particularly in recording and tracking child labour cases, referrals, and follow-up actions within the municipality.
The Office further reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with Right to Play and other partners to intensify sensitization, case identification, and response mechanisms aimed at eliminating child labour in Krachi East.

This donation underscores Right to Play’s broader mission of creating safe and supportive environments for children, while strengthening institutional capacity to ensure the effective protection of children’s rights at the community level.
