Keta Municipal Assembly Begins Distribution of Chicks Under Nkokɔ Nkitinkiti Initiative

The Keta Municipal Assembly, under the leadership of the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Wisdom Seade, has commenced the orientation and distribution of five-week-old chicks to beneficiaries under the government's Nkokɔ Nkitinkiti Initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) and farmer groups.

The first phase of the exercise was held at Abor, where beneficiaries from the northern zone of the municipality received training on proper poultry management and bird care before taking delivery of the chicks at the Abor R.C. School.

Due to the municipality's geographical setting, beneficiaries have been grouped into zones to ensure a smooth and efficient distribution process. The exercise is expected to continue at the Keta Municipal Assembly Hall, where beneficiaries from the southern zone will also receive orientation and their allocations.

Among the beneficiaries is the Keta Senior High Technical School, which has been selected as the institutional beneficiary of the programme. The school is set to receive 1,300 birds to revive its poultry project. Preparations for the initiative have already been undertaken by the school's Agriculture Department in collaboration with the Municipal Assembly.

Hon. Seade noted that the initiative will not only promote poultry production but also create opportunities for schools to supplement their feeding programmes. He further expressed his intention to engage stakeholders and collaborate with other senior high schools across the municipality to establish sustainable poultry projects that will support agricultural education and food security.

The Nkokɔ Nkitinkiti Initiative forms part of broader efforts to boost local poultry production, enhance livelihoods, and strengthen food systems within the municipality.
